Kenenisa Bekele is an Ethiopian long-distance runner renowned for his dominance in the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and cross country. He is one of the most successful distance runners in history, holding multiple world records and winning numerous international titles. Bekele won three Olympic gold medals (two in the 10,000 meters and one in the 5,000 meters) and a silver medal (in the 5,000 meters), alongside multiple World Championship titles in both track and cross country events.

Bekele is the current world record holder for the 10,000 meters (26:17.53) and the former world record holder for the 5,000 meters (12:37.35). His achievements include winning the World Cross Country Championships five times in the long race and six times in the short race, showcasing his versatility and dominance across different terrains and distances. Bekele’s running style is characterized by his smooth, efficient stride and strong finishing kick.

In addition to his success on the track, Bekele has also made a significant impact in marathon running. He has won major marathons, including the Berlin Marathon, where he came within two seconds of the world record in 2019.
