Ingemar Stenmark is a legendary Swedish alpine skier, widely regarded as one of the greatest ski racers of all time. Specializing in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom, Stenmark dominated the sport in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He won a record 86 World Cup races, which remains the most victories by any male skier in history. Stenmark also captured two Olympic gold medals at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid and was a three-time World Cup overall champion. His precise technique and consistency made him a formidable competitor.
